And then suddenly your little one is wearing size 80, and the baby carrier you already have may even be starting to feel a little too small. You discover that toddler carriers are often still (much) too big, so... help, what now? Welcome to this information page about choosing a baby carrier for your child in size 80! Is this your first baby carrier? That’s of course possible too; in that case, welcome to the wonderful world of babywearing!We’d like to clear up a misconception. There are actually many baby carriers that can be used up to size 86-92. You’re probably thinking, "yes, but my child will have outgrown that in no time because they’re already wearing size 80, so I’d rather choose one from at least size 86". Does that sound familiar?During the first year, your little one grows incredibly quickly. But from size 80 onwards, that slows down considerably, which is just as well, because they grow up so quickly! A toddler carrier from size 86 is genuinely still too wide (seat width) and too high (back panel) for a child in size 80. A child wearing size 80 will therefore genuinely be sitting in a spread-legged position in a baby carrier suitable from size 86. Ergonomic carrying is incredibly important, and that includes a well-fitting baby carrier . We therefore advise you to look for a baby carrier that fits well now because, after all, you want to start using it now . In this case, buying for growth is unfortunately not such a good choice.
We make the following distinction between baby carriers
Full-buckle, half-buckle or Meh Dai
Will you choose a full-buckle, a half-buckle or a Meh Dai? The choice you make here is very personal. Do you want something ready to use? Then choose a full-buckle! Do you use the baby carrier together with your partner, who has a very different build from you? Then you can imagine that with a full-buckle baby carrier, you have to adjust the straps again each time your partner has used the baby carrier. This isn’t difficult at all, but it may be a reason not to choose a full-buckle. Don’t you like all the straps hanging from a full-buckle baby carrier? Or do you not think a buckle carrier looks comfortable to wear? In that case, you can also consider a Meh Dai or, alternatively, a half-buckle.
Baby carriers that can be used from newborn to size 86-92
Many baby carriers can be used from newborn up to size 86-92. We have already explained above why these baby carriers are also included on this page and are genuinely still a good choice. Here’s another example: is your child currently wearing size 80 and are you hoping to have another child in the future? In that case too, a baby carrier that can be used from newborn is a good choice. You can use it now for your child in size 80, and by the time this carrier really becomes too small, you can put it aside for a future child. For the child who then wears a roomy size 86 or even 92, you can buy a toddler carrier if you would like to continue babywearing.
